After taking 4 days off I finally decided to test the calf out.  It seized up on me less than .5 miles in and just kept getting worse as I went.  I won't be racing on Saturday.   It's a bummers, but I'm very greatful I was able to run many good races before getting injured like this.  I'll take a few weeks off and hope it heals so I can jump back into things.  Good luck to all those racing this weekend.  I wish I was racing with you all, but such is the nature of our sport.

Sorry to hear this Steve. You certainly have had a great year and should be proud of what you've done. You're smart to listen to your body rather than risk exacerbating your calf injury into a bigger problem. There will be plenty of opportunities for big races in the future. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery.

Who knows, maybe you wake up on Weds or Thurs and feel great and determine that you can make a go of it on Saturday?

Sorry about the injury, I hope that you can get healed up fully and quickly.

Steve, I'm really sorry to hear that you can't race. I was certain that you would be one of the front runners. While I know how bad it sucks to miss a race, it is just one race. There will be endless opportunities in the future. Just don't lose sight that you have had an amazing year this far and have proven you will be a force at any distance from now on. Get better quickly. Fritz

Sorry to hear it Steve. You're in amazing shape. Get well, you've got many great races to come. You'll be missed on Saturday.

Thanks guys I appreciate it. It's just one race and I do have every intention on bouncing back. I really think it is just a minor injury and I should be fine within a week or two. I just don't think it is very wise to go try and run 26.2 miles at 5:30 pace with any injury even a real minor one. We're still going to go down to St. George because my family is in need of a vacation so I'll probably see some of you at the finish line. Good luck!

So sorry to hear this, Steve! I was really looking forward to seeing you at the race. You are in killer shape! I give you my best for a speedy recovery. You've had an excellent year. And, there will be many incredible performances from you in the future.
